The study was carried out by the QUEER Association — TEMIDA in partnership with ECOM — Eurasian Coalition on Health, Rights, Sexual, and Gender Diversity as part of the regional project “Trans*Map in EECA”.

The population size of trans- and non-binary people is 0.06% of the country’s population, or 720 trans and non-binary persons in Tbilisi, 100 in Batumi, and 80 in Kutaisi. Both the trans community and the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health agreed with the estimate.

The results of this study will be used by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health for planning national programs aimed at HIV prevention among trans and non-binary people. In addition, ECOM and other international organizations can use this study in their work to improve services for trans and non-binary people in Georgia.
